Subcultural Pattern Clash

"Rebellious Subjects, Enemies of Peace" 

 

This is a collection of delicate fabrics featuring bold and alternative prints. The aim of the collection was to create a vibrant and urban colour and pattern clash, suitable for a high end and contemporary prom dress.

The collection captures the creativity, the vibrancy and subcultural clash of Camden Market and Afflecks Palace. The subtle theme of Romeo and Juliet links to the romance and idealism of attending Prom, while the clash of the Montagues and Capulets mirrors the clash of subcultural groups. With roses symbolising love, lillies symbolising death, the theme is carried through to the motif designs. The colours symbolise love and passion in shades of red and pink. Black and white create a graphic element which clashes against the rainbow colours which were selected due to their literal representation of Camden Market and Afflecks Palace.

This collection features products made from digitally printed silk twill and silk chiffon mouslin. Mono screen prints on Jersey complete the collection with casual and more affordable products.
